The Point West Rotary Foundation supports worthy charitable organizations in three broad categories:
- Organizations that create opportunity, enhance self esteem, and provide physical and moral support for vulnerable children;
- Programs that celebrate or promote community service; and
- Service activities of Rotary International and other Rotary clubs.
Grants must finance a specific benevolent activity; requests for support of general operations (operating expenses) are not considered; and grants are made only to qualified 501 (c) (3) and other tax qualified organizations.
Point West’s grant process involves the interaction of the Foundation, the club’s Board of Directors and the club’s Grant Review Committee. The Grant Review Committee is charged with reviewing grant applications. The role of the Foundation is to generate donations and otherwise grow capital of a perpetual trust fund that supports the grants. The Foundation accepts contributions of cash, stock, securities and real property. Donations are tax deductible to the extent of IRS regulations.
