History and Mission

The Point West Rotary Club Foundation is an auxiliary organization of the Rotary Club of Point West, a club founded in Sacramento in 1985. With more than 160 members, the club is the second largest club in Rotary International’s District 5180.

In 1998, the club created the Foundation who’s mission is “To manage and grow the funds entrusted to it in a lawful manner and to make available charitable funding in perpetuity for qualified beneficiaries selected by the Rotary Club of Point West.”

Since 1998, the Foundation has donated over $1.1 million to over one hundred worthy charitable causes in three broad categories:

  • Organizations that create opportunity, enhance self esteem, and provide physical and moral support for vulnerable children;
  • Programs that celebrate or promote community service; and
  • Service activities of Rotary International and other Rotary clubs.

Grants must finance a specific benevolent activity; requests for support of general operations (operating expenses) are not considered; and grants are made only to qualified 501 (c) (3) and other tax qualified organizations. (Tax ID #94-3337623)

Point West’s grant process involves the interaction of the Foundation, the Club’s Board of Directors and the Club’s Grant Review Committee. The Grant Review Committee is charged with reviewing grant applications. The Foundation accepts contributions of cash, stock, securities and real property. Donations are tax deductible to the extent of IRS regulations.
